Ag Pilot Q&A – Chuck Travis Indianola, MS

Best advice you can give about farming?
Be attentive and listen to the older farmers. Never stop learning because things change regularly and you may find yourself in a circumstance that you have never been in before, but the older generation has probably been there and done that.

Describe What you do in Your Job
Manage the day to day operations of the business and also fly the plane.

How did you Become Interested in Ag Aviation
I grew up in the business.  I started working when I was a child with my father and basically continued to do so until I left to go to college.

What do you Like Best About your Job
It used to be having the winters off, but we don’t get to do that much anymore. We fly about eleven months out of the year.  I just love to be in the airplane and flying.  As long as I am up in the air I don’t really feel like I am working.

What do you Like Least About your job
I hate that sometimes we have to hurry to get a lot of jobs done at the same time.  That gets stressful.   Also, there are times when it seems that we are having to wait and wait for the next job to start.

Best Business Decision Ever Made
Marrying someone who was going into the medical field!

Someone Who Made a Difference in Your Life
There have been several.  My father and my Uncle Ray instilled the love of flying in me and David Lewis gave me my first good job flying a turbine.
